Steven's Tribute

At this time it is difficult to find words that accurately describe our true sense of loss. I hope to do Mum some justice with these few short lines. Mum was a lovely young girl brought up in a loving family - she matured into a beautiful young woman and there is no doubt she became a beautiful human being. Her mid-life hadn't turned out quite how she had expected but she was lucky in that she surely found a niche in life in which she was very happy and content. It was her enormous love for her family and friends, and the love she received in return, which was the axis around which her life revolved. She was answerable to noone and pleased herself. But is was in pleasing herself that she helped so many people in different ways. She was selfless and happy to put other's needs before her own. She was just made that way. She had an abundance of true qualities essential to real life. Her warmth, patience, generosity, understanding and immense love knew no bounds. She was never far from a laugh and a smile - and that smile could just swallow you up. She was many things to many people. A good true friend, a special Auntie, loving sister, and of course, adoring mother. Elaine and I are just so proud to have her blood flowing in our veins. She was also the proudest grandmother, worshipping her two granddaughters Evie and Alice as much as they worshipped her. She loved her sibling's children and grandchildren as if they were her own. The past ten days or so have been the saddest days for Elaine and I and sad for everyone who knew Mum. But I know she would want us all to be positive and focus on the good times, those very special times that we have all spent with her, and there were plenty. Mum has always been there for us all. So from now on when we think of mum, think of her smile, her strength, her love. If we can be a little like her, she will always be there for us. Postscript - Steven wrote these beautiful words and read them at Mum's funeral. Steven and Brec now have two of the most beautiful little girls imaginable, Milla and Nellie, and Mum has four granddaughters.
